Dear
parent,
In a manner to ensure accuracy of work performed in mathematics,
I will often allow the students to check their work with a calculator.
Therefore, you may want to consider the purchase of the
calculator designated below (TI-15). This is a special math
calculator that will come in handy not only in 5th grade but
in the following grades as well. What
makes it special is that it performs a few special functions that other
calculators cannot. I have
purchased a set of the same calculators for use with instruction in the
classroom. However, the
students may only use them here at school.
They will NOT be allowed to leave the classroom. Of course, this purchase is at your discretion. I will be giving out ordering information on the 1st day of school for those who are interested. On a personal note, I was asked to buy a similar model for one of my college math classes. After 10 years, I still am using that exact same calculator. |
