Walter J. Moss Teacher Enhancement Scholarship

An Opportunity for Professional

Educators to Achieve Advanced

Degrees or Certification

Walter J. Moss (July 19, 1934 – October 20, 2020)

His friends called him "Walt."  Throughout Howard County, Walter J. Moss was a household name.  He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1951.  He was a life-long resident and entrepreneur. Walt began his barbering career in 1952, purchased his own shop in 1965, and retired in 2006.  The Walt Moss Barber Shop remains an institution in downtown Kokomo.

Walt believed that education is a vital part of any community's success.  Through his generosity, Walt has made it possible for the Kokomo Schools Education Foundation to offer scholarships for professional educators in Howard County.  Both Walt and the Kokomo Schools Education Foundation believe that highly trained teachers and administrators translate into improved student achievement and an academically sound learning atmosphere.
