Kokomo boy’s track and field team put its full team in action Tuesday night at Ben Davis High School. We had good performances and efforts. Overall, we are very young and have a lot to learn over the next couple of months.

The Wildkats won nine events and were led by quadruple winner Andrecus Eddington. The speedy senior won the 100 meters in 10.95, the 200 in 24.00, and anchored both the 4x100 relay (46.20) and the 4x400 relay (3:50.03).

Junior Justin Taflinger won the 1600 in 5:00.15 and was on the victorious 4x 400 relay. Senior Coy Brandon placed first in the 800 meters with a 2:21.40, and freshman Chris Thomas was a member of both winning relays.

Junior Nathan Pine won both throwing events with a 40'1" shot put heave and a 127'00" discus toss. Sophomore Drake Blackburn and junior Joseph Nieto both cleared 10'0" in the pole vault with Blackburn winning on fewer misses.

Sophomore Andra Nash had an outstanding leap of 20'2 ½ " to garner a 2ndplace ribbon.

Andrecus Eddington led the Kats with three victories out of our six event wins. He won the 400 meters in 54.41, anchored the 400 relay's 44.56, and the 1600 relay's 3:43.72.

Joseph Nieto won the 200 meters with a 23.80, Corey Dea crossed the line first in the 3200 in 10:53.60, and Drake Blackburn captured the pole vault at 10'6".

The 4 x 800 relay team crossed the line first in 8:50.94 and was composed of Max Esponda, Coy Brandon, Justin Taflinger, and Julian Wallace. Joseph Nieto won the 200 meter dash with a :24.23, and Drake Blackburn leaped 10'0" to get 1st place in the pole vault. Andra Nash went 19'6.25" to win the long jump, and Anthony Fox heaved the
shot 40' 6.5" and got the victory. Nathan
Pine spun the discus 123' 2" for his first
place effort.

Kokomo finished 6th with 42 points.
The 4 x 800 Relay team was the Wildkats' only win. Max Esponda, Coy Brandon, Julian Wallace, and Justin Taflinger sliced 10 seconds off their season best with an 8:40.59 effort.
Capturing a 3rd place ribbon was the Distance Medley Relay (1200, 400, 800, 1600) of Coy Brandon, Tyler Shelley, Alex Ward, and Corey Dea in 11:50.12. Finishing in 4th place was
the Sprint Medley Relay (100, 100, 200, 400) with a 1:41.04 time.
