Rebecca Hill, M.S. Ed.
Mrs. Hill went to 1st Grade at Bon Air Elementary school in Kokomo, IN. Then her dad got a new job in Washington D.C. to program computers, so their family moved to Virginia close to his work. Farewell, Indiana and all those basketball games!
Rebecca Hill studied piano for 10 years with Vance Marshall, student and protégé of International Concert artist, Rudolph Serkin. She was in band in the Fairfax, Virginia public schools for 8 years, playing clarinet, oboe, and bassoon. She took organ lessons for 2 years from Marian Thomas, mother of Nationally renound flutist, Mark Thomas. Instead of flipping burgers for a job as a teenager, Mrs. Hill was a paid organist for a Methodist church in Dunn Loring, Virginia.
After graduating from George Marshall H.S. in Falls Church,Virginia, Rebecca majored in Music Education as a piano performance major. Piano majors were required to practice piano for a minimum of 3 hours per day, 6 days a week if they wanted an excellent grade. For one year, music majors were required to study strings for a year, so she studied the viola, string bass, and cello. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky.
She studied as a voice major and piano minor at Ball State University towards a master’s degree. She has a Masters of Education degree in Computers from Purdue University.
After marriage, Mrs. Hill returned to Indiana to live with her husband. They have lived in 6 different counties all over the state. She and her husband, Rev. Dr. P. Mark Hill, have 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 4 step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hill takes violin lessons from Suzuki Instructor, Sarah Martin, of Kokomo, Indiana and continues to improve her music skills. She plays piano and sings with a praise band on Sundays at the Grace United Methodist Church. She is in her 30th year of teaching.
