WELCOME from Dr. Mike Sargent
Superintendent of Kokomo School Corporation

Greetings from Kokomo Schools!  Together, as a community and school district, we continue to move forward, while providing a wide range of educational programs and learning options for students and families.

In consultation with local and State health officials while listening to our students and families, Kokomo School Corporation leaders created and implemented a safe and effective education plan for last school year.  This plan allowed Kokomo Schools to maintain an “in-person” instruction option for most of the school year. The challenges of last school year provided our district’s teachers with an opportunity to learn and deploy new technologies, along with instructional strategies that enhance the learning experiences for students.

Kokomo School Corporation leaders will continue to collaborate with local and State health officials to ensure a safe and effective education plan for the 2021-2022 school year.  The district will review and revise its Re-Entry Plan throughout the upcoming school year as guidance and requirements change from health officials.

Kokomo Schools is pleased to offer a range of educational programs to meet the learning needs of students.  These programs include International Baccalaureate (IB) programs; Integrated Arts programs; State-certified STEM programs; Transformation Zones; a K-12 Virtual program; early childhood programs with preschool in 6 of our 7 elementary schools; and a wide range of course offerings and dual credits for Career and Technical Education (CTE) at the Kokomo Area Career Center and at Kokomo High School, Advanced Placement courses, STEM Academy courses, International Diploma Program courses, and Dual Credit courses, and much more.

Your school leaders – including Board members, administrators, and teachers – continue to focus on the individual academic growth of each student.  This focus includes providing support and enrichment of state and national standards to provide rigorous and meaningful learning experiences, while meeting our district’s mission of developing global-minded and compassionate lifelong learners for a changing world.  The district also provides support services to meet the social-emotional needs of our students, and values our students’ and the Kokomo community’s diversity by establishing inclusionary practices.

I am honored to serve the Kokomo School Corporation as Superintendent, and I consider myself blessed to be able to live and work in my home community.  Thank you for your continued support of the Kokomo School Corporation.  Go Kats!
