Foundation Mini-Grants

The Foundation is proud to invest in academic excellence across Kokomo Schools. Foundation Mini-Grants support educators who bring creative projects to life, enhancing student achievement and the drive to learn. Each funded grant aligns with our core mission: to engage, inspire, and empower every student.

Over the last decade, the Foundation has invested more than $60,000 in our teachers! Now, it’s your turn to innovate. All teachers are encouraged to apply!

Funding Opportunities

  • Standard Grants: Up to $500.

  • Unique Projects: Exceptional, creative proposals may be considered for up to $1,000.

What We Look For

We prioritize projects that demonstrate:

  • Innovation & Creativity: Unique approaches to learning.

  • Educational Impact: Clear value and benefits for students.

  • Sustainability: The ability to leverage community support or additional funding.

The Review Process: The Foundation’s Grant Committee reviews each application carefully, based on three categories, including budget, narrative, and building principal verification.

Rubric: 20 Total Points Possible

  1. Budget: 3 total points possible

  • Projected expense complete and within the $500 maximum (additional funding up to $1000 could be considered)

  • The budget lists other funding sources (school funds, community funds, personal funds, etc.)

  • The project budget takes into account replication by your school or other schools without additional costs

  1. Narrative: 15 total points possible

  • The purpose of the project (Why are you doing the project?)

  • Description of the method or procedure used in carrying out the project.

  • Is the project creative or innovative?  (5 Points)

  • How many students will benefit from this project?

  • State Standards to be met (listed by name)

  • Explain how the project meets each standard listed.  (2 Points)

  • Is the project interdisciplinary focused, either within your discipline or with other teachers of other disciplines?

  • Is it designed to truly enrich the experiences of the students, or enrich the curriculum

  • What will the students learn and /or be able to do?

  • How did the process promote student achievement?

  1. Building Principal Verification: 2 total points possible

  • The building principal’s narrative shows support for the project. (2 points)

Requests ineligible for Mini-Grant funding:

  • Field trips

  • Teacher enrichment or college credit

  • Compensation or stipends for school personnel

  • Previously funded projects or repeat "scopes of work"

Applications will be disqualified if they include:

  • Missing Authorizations: Submissions without the Principal’s signature

  • Late Submissions: Applications received after the stated deadline
